Two recent Open Events for the Liverpool Waters regeneration along the Mersey waterfront have been a massive success.
The events held at the Crown Plaza on Princes Dock attracted 250 interested parties, and allowed the consultants for the planning, The Peel Group, to share new ideas for the area, and to showcase what will be forwarded to the planning committee in the summer. The developments, if they go ahead, are expected to bring more than £10bn worth of investment to the city over the next 30 years.
“Liverpool Waters is a hugely ambitious and exciting scheme which has the potential to bring about the transformation of an area which has been in need of regeneration for decades,” said Liverpool Councillor Joe Anderson.
“The scale of the project is breath taking and it will benefit generations to come. We, along with other agencies, have worked with Peel to help shape this scheme but we do recognise that there are great sensitivities attached to it. For this reason, I encourage people to look at the plans as part of the consultation process, to ensure the best possible outcome for the city.”
Liverpool has received a lot of attention on the world stage after successfully becoming the European Capital of Culture in 2008, and, in recent months, being a major attraction at the Shanghai World Expo and by opening the innovative Liverpool Embassy in London.
