The Glenigan report Construction Prospects for 2011 has shown a positive outlook for construction in the transport sector during the next 12 months.
The report suggested the sector will receive a growing share of investment funds and maintain project value - while all other sectors will see opportunities diminish.
Glenigan put this down to huge investment in a small number of major projects, particularly in London. They reported:
“The performance of the infrastructure sector during 2010 varied significantly across its different work categories, a divergence that will continue during 2011. For instance, improvements to London’s transport infrastructure ahead of the 2012 Olympics will help stimulate activity over the next eighteen months.”
The level of investment in the sector also comes from the town planners, realising the importance of good infrastructure.
