Shortlisted Companies Given May Deadline for Liverpool Hospital Bids

The three companies shortlisted last summer for the £400m Royal Liverpool University Hospital works have finally been given a date to submit their bids.

The construction firms Balfour Beatty, Carillion and the Spanish contractor FCC have been given until May to submit their bids to construct a replacement hospital for the area, after a legal challenge in November hindered the process.

Urban Space Products has been a part of the bidding for multiple companies bidding for the works, and have forwarded a number of proposals for the exterior of the new build.

Artist impressions released over the past twelve months suggest that Liverpool residents have a modern and eye-catching new hospital to look forward to.

Tony Bell, chief executive of the NHS trust in charge of the works said “We can now press ahead with the exciting task of working with our three bidders to create a world-class hospital for the people of this city.”

The trust intends to eliminate one bidder by January 2012, with the winner selected by the following May.

The hospital opening is slated for 2016.
