Secondary Schools

Secondary Schools

Do you want well-rounded students?

Secondary education today has a huge responsibility to promote healthy living, exercise and outdoor activities to a generation whose main activities are based indoors and on screens. Although ICT and technology are essential to the curriculum even to young students, teachers and governors nationwide are having to concern themselves with devising teaching practices and initiatives that redress the balance between information and important physical and practical activity. Is your school trying to address this concern?

Some councils, such as Tewkesbury Borough Council, are working actively with schools in the area to support healthy living and wellbeing through schemes such as Get Cycling, encouraging pupils and staff to ride bicycles to work, rather than drive or walk. Urban Space Products were recently contracted by Tewkesbury school to provide a bespoke, fully secure cycle storage compound for 500 bikes. This huge job is a big step towards making the regions healthy living aspirations a reality.

Liz Brown, Facilities Manager at Tewkesbury School in Gloucester said she was most impressed by the level of on-site support given by Urban Space Products and thanked the technical design team for “providing us with a quote that fitted our tight budget but didn’t compromise our requirements.”

Urban Space Products is working constantly on new solutions to meet the needs of schools nationwide, contributing to the healthy living agenda, but also to achieving greater learning outcomes.

Though PE has long been established in their timetables, schools are now realising the importance of working physical activity into other lessons, both for the health benefits of active learning, and because of the mounting evidence that pupils learn better and are more attentive when they are participating in group activity.

Shaping up to provide the best education possible for today’s school pupils is no easy task, as funding schemes such as the BSF are dropped and headteachers, governors and councils are trying to make the best impact possible within reduced budgets. Are you after an innovative, high impact development to your school that will provide best value?
